Good morning Chelsea fans. Here is your morning digest for Wednesday, December 2nd.

Chelsea monitoring White progress

Chelsea have been named among a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the progress of Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White.

White, who helped Leeds United to promotion from the Championship last season, has impressed for Brighton this season and is now attracting interest from Chelsea, per Sky Sports.

The report states that Manchester United and Spurs are also tracking the 23-year-old, who was subject of interest from Liverpool in the summer, though the Reds are said to have 'no interest' in signing him despite their injury crisis at centre-half.

Leeds attempted to sign White in the summer, but their £25 million bid was rejected.

Chelsea signed Thiago Silva on a free transfer last summer but Frank Lampard has made it clear that he would like to find a long-term solution to his team’s defensive problems from last season.

Neville defends Loftus-Cheek

Gary Neville leapt to the defence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is currently on loan from Chelsea at Fulham.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher and Neville discussed the midfielder’s prospects.

“We say that every season,” Carragher jibed when asked if this is an important campaign for the 24-year-old.

Neville, though, defended the oft-injured prospect, explaining. “He needs to play every week, play 40 games a season, year in, year out and have consistency and belief, and I’m sure he’ll have a great career.

“I take offence to statements like that because you’re judging him against expectations he hasn’t set for himself. What Jamie’s judging him against is the expectations. He didn’t set those expectations. He’s got a massive talent, he hasn’t played enough games to have a chance to show his full potential yet.”

Jorginho praises Chelsea squad

Jorginho has praised the Chelsea squad by stating that it possesses terrific depth and quality, including in central midfield.

When asked whether this is the best squad he has ever played with, the midfielder said: “I played with so many good players and I’m pleased for that.

“We have a big team with so many talents and players. We just need to keep working hard and try to keep winning games.”

Jorginho was also asked about the competition in central midfield and he added: “I think that’s good for the team. Level of the team is higher and competition is good. We have more competition between us.

"Level is higher and everything is better like this. We are just trying to work even harder to have a chance to play.”
