Chelsea 0-0 Tottenham: Three Things We Learned

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur went to war at Stamford Bridge last night, and while there was a great deal of anticipation heading into the game, it didn’t lead to much goalmouth action on the pitch as the two London rivals played out an entertaining 0-0 draw.

Some will believe the result suits one of the teams moreso than the other, but in truth, all it does is set us up for more Premier League drama as we head into the hectic winter period.

Positives for Chelsea

Even though Chelsea weren’t quite able to get the three points they desired, they definitely had the more attacking style of the two and really did cause Spurs problems – but in addition, the statistic to consider is the fact that this was their seventh clean sheet in their last nine games. For a team that were really struggling defensively at the start of the season, it says a lot about how far they’ve come in such a short space of time.

Jose’s way still works

There are going to be Tottenham fans out there who despise the style of football that has been implemented by Jose Mourinho, but at the end of the day, he’s getting them the results they need to contest for the league title again. There are still some strong attacking forces out there for Spurs to utilise, and even when they don’t score, we’re at a point now whereby the boys from North London are becoming very hard to score against.

Wide open title race continues

Right now, Tottenham and Chelsea are both priced at 5/1 with 888sport to win the Premier League behind Liverpool and Manchester City. Sure, it may not seem particularly likely that they’ll keep up their current run of form, but they are situated in 1st and 3rd place respectively with 10 games played this season. Liverpool have a string of injury concerns to worry about and they weren’t able to beat Brighton on Saturday, City are inconsistent, and Leicester don’t appear to be able to keep up the pace. If anything, last night was a win-win for both teams as neither really did their title aspirations all too much harm.
