Match Day Moments – Premier League – Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur

|

It is, as far as we are concerned, one of the biggest fixtures of the Premier League season.

Whenever Chelsea take on Tottenham Hotspur anticipation levels rise that we are about to see an absolute classic.

Today, there is far more at stake than just the three points, whoever emerges as the winners will sit, proudly, on top of the Premier League table and will have further cemented any claims to being possible title winners.

And, of course, there is a certain Jose Mourinho who sold his soul down the river by taking the Tottenham job after proclaiming, while he was at Chelsea, it was something he never could do.

As usual, we are running our Match Day Moments feature where we ask you to leave your thoughts on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to this huge fixture.

2 – The starting XI selected by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Stamford Bridge.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period that follows the sounding of the final whistle.

Will fortune favour those in blue today and give us a perfect start to a new working week?

Let us hope so.

A tough match, and though we were the better team in the 2nd half, we could not get the all important goal. Giroud could have been brought on sooner I feel, given that Reece James seemed to be in the mood to put in some inviting crosses. One good thing was the way our defence looked very competant & didn’t give us fans many jitters as used to be the case before Mendy, Silva & Chilwell joined us

Having rewatched the game, my observations
    1. Chelsea played well, just that the final ball or its accuracy was missing..

    2. Chelsea played to win… Tottenham played to draw.
Chelsea were pressing with their 3 forwards and a midfielder. While spurs dropped their forward line to the center circle of the picture… In the first half, spurs wanted to use counter, it tried to work for them, but as game wore on, Chelsea blocked the channels for their counter and tactical fouls helped.

Great save from Hugo, a greater save than the Mendy’s from Aurier..

Had Tammy connected to any two of the cross from Reece or that cross pass from either ziyech or mount from the right, it would have been a goal… Then Giroud couldn’t get a good shot on a mistake from spurs defender.

The only dangerous ball spurs had in the 2nd half was the Zouma mistake pass.

Can Chelsea win the league this season? No!

They don’t have that extra edge..

They still lack one more good forward like werner, and some one to help Kante (during rest or injury)

Neither jorginho nor Gilmour can substitute for Kante.
