Edouard Mendy

Nothing he could do with United's opening goal after being left exposed two v one. Got away with a massive error late on when he passed straight to Fred. 7

Reece James

Didn't have much defending to do in the opening 45 minutes so spent most of his time in the United half. Late free kick almost snuck in at the far post. Pushed to the left after Tuchel switched things up and still looked Chelsea's biggest attacking threat. 8

Trevoh Chalobah

With United offering very little by way of attack, he has an incredibly comfortable first half up against Marcus Rashford. Booked in the second half but coped rather well with Ronaldo after his introduction. 7

Thiago Silva

One fabulous tackle on Bruno Fernandes set Chelsea on their way and Rudiger whacked the crossbar. Hacked down by Wan-Bissaka for the penalty. Comfortable throughout. 7

Antonio Rudiger

Some trademark runs forward early on kept United on their toes and clattered a shot off the crossbar. Didn't have much defending to do all game. 7

Marcos Alonso

Recalled to the starting eleven at the expense of the injured Ben Chilwell and looked rusty early on, making some iffy decisions with the ball. Better after the break but delivery wasn't up to scratch. Looked shattered before eventually replaced on 77 minutes. 6

Jorginho

Looked a player very much at the top of his game right now as he breezed through the game with ease before it came crashing down. Undid all of his good work with a terrible touch from Fernandes' hoik, should have headed it away/ Redeemed himself by scoring from the spot. 7

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Made his third Premier League start of the season but struggled in the first 15 minutes to get into the game. Warmed up eventually alongside Jorginho but his reluctance to shoot was a big source of frustration. 7

Hakim Ziyech

Frustrating decision making with the ball during the first half as moves broke down too often. Tried to do too much to win the game by himself. 6

Callum Hudson-Odoi

An eighth successive start in all competitions for the winger and could have got on the scoresheet three minutes in only to be denied by De Gea. Defended counter attacks against Rashford well on two occasions. 7

Timo Werner

Had a very flexible role in the opening stages as he tried to drag United's defenders to the wings. Flashed a decent chance wide at 0-1. Quiet. on his first start since November 2. 6

Substitutes

Mason Mount (for Hudson-Odoi, 77')

Buzzed around but not much impact. 6

Christian Pulisic (for Alonso, 77')

Played right wing-back for his 13 minutes of action. 6

Romelu Lukaku (for Werner, 81') No rating.
