Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Manchester United as Jorginho’s penalty cancelled out Jadon Sancho’s strike.

Here’s how Thomas Tuchel’s side rated at Stamford Bridge...

Edouard Mendy 6

A spectator for most of the game, sat down by Sancho for the goal but had little hope two-on-one.

Trevor Chalobah 7

Again given the nod by his manager in a massive game and, again, did not let him down. Continues to impress but lucky to avoid booking when spun by Rashford.

Thiago Silva 7

Never out of third gear and his presence in the opposition box won penalty. Another flawless display, typified by late intervention to deny Ronaldo.

Antonio Rudiger 6

Absolute magnet for incident. Hit the bar, dodged bookings, got into tussles over nothing, defended well - then missed a golden chance to win it in injury time.

Reece James 6

Quieter than of late, perhaps due to not operating in tandem with Chilwell as in recent weeks. Still produced several stunning deliveries and showed versatility again with late cameo on the left.

Jorginho 6

Superb in the first-half, his composure crucial to allowing Chelsea to play through United’s press. Horrendous error gifted United opener but made amends with signature spot-kick.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 5

So good to watch when picking the ball up deep and driving but did not manage to do that often enough. Blew a terrific opening with poor pass to Werner.

Marcos Alonso 6

Hesitated when he might’ve gotten on the end of one James cross, which rather summed up his display - fine but not on the level of an in-form Ben Chilwell.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 6

Ability to go both ways should be such an asset but he often chooses the wrong one. Should’ve opened the scoring with early chance.

Hakim Ziyech 5

Never hides and showed glimpses of his talent but clearly struggling for form and with Tuchel’s returning options a spell on the sidelines beckons.

Timo Werner 5

Quiet return to the starting XI after bright cameo in midweek. Spurned glorious chance at 0-1 when getting finish all wrong before being thwarted by Wan-Bissaka block.

Substitutes

Mason Mount (Hudson-Odoi 78’)

Slow start to the season interupted by teeth issue and did not do enough to push cause when coming on.

Christian Pulisic (Alonso 78’)

One outrageous piece of control to rescue a wayward Ziyech pass but otherwise unable to impact the game.

Romelu Lukaku (Werner 82’)

Got huge ovation as he made his return from injury.
