Thomas Tuchel has made three changes to his team as we host Manchester United in the Premier League today, including the return to the starting line-up of Timo Werner.

Tuchel lost two more players to injury in the mid-week win over Juventus, with N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell unavailable today after being forced off in that game. Mateo Kovacic is still out of contention too.

Edouard Mendy continues between the posts, with an unchanged back three of Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger in front of him.

It is in the midfield four that the two enforced changes come, as Ruben Loftus-Cheek replaces Kante to make his third Premier League start of the season. He will be beside Jorginho, who captains the side today, while Reece James continues on the right and Marcos Alonso takes Chilwell’s place on the left.

The unforced change by Tuchel comes in the front three, where Timo Werner returns to the starting line-up for the first time since the home win over Malmo in early October, following his own injury. He will be flanked by Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz are both on the bench after also being out with injuries in recent weeks.

Michael Carrick has made four changes for his second game as Manchester United's caretaker manager, and could match Chelsea's 3-4-3 system. Captain Harry Maguire is suspended after being sent off in last week's defeat to Watford and Cristiano Ronaldo drops to the bench as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes come into their team.
