Chelsea vs Man United score predictions: Blues power on

Chelsea welcomes one of its fiercest rivals over the last few seasons to Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Manchester United—still managed by Michael Carrick for the time being—named Ralph Rangnick its interim manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure last week. However, it’ll be Carrick on the touchline for his second contest when the Red Devils travel to west London as Rangnick looks to complete his documentation. Suffice it to say, it’ll be an inexperienced managerial staff taking on one of the most well managed teams in Europe.

Thomas Tuchel looks to make it 11 unbeaten in all competitions as the Blues try to stay atop the Premier League table. The task won’t be easy though as Man United is one of the most talented squads in the English top flight. Another factor will be the home side’s lengthy injury list.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 2-0 Chelsea

Unfortunately, early signs indicate Carrick is not half as bad at organizing a team as his predecessor. This means that this game will not be as easy for the Blues as it was for Manchester City or Liverpool. Nevertheless, Chelsea has the better team, better manager and better players. They should have enough about them to see off Man United.

Leighton September: 4-0 Chelsea

When Villarreal played Man United, any team with top players could’ve been three to four goals to the good in the first half. This Blues side will absolutely run rampant against the Red Devils. Man United has a lot of defensive problems with suspensions and through injury. Lukaku—should he start—will have a field day against his former team.

Anthony Gatt: 2-0 Chelsea

If Man United’s performance against Villarreal is anything to go by, I don’t think the Blues should have any issue winning on Sunday. Carrick, at the end of the day, is very similar to Solskjaer with his teams lacking any tactics and having to rely on Cristiano Ronaldo to save them time after time. When these two sides meet again in May, this might be a different match-up with Ralf Rangnick at the helm, but as of now, the home side should win with ease. Lukaku grabs a goal off the bench against his former club.

Travis Flock: 1-0 Chelsea

Man United is looking to correct its course and use the new manager bounce to steal points from league-leading Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Expect this to be a contest where neither team commits too far forward early on. They will use tactical battles to feel the opponent out as the match progresses. However, the Blues will have just enough to continue their march on to another Premier League trophy by scoring a second half winner.

Barrett Rouen: 2-1 Chelsea

I am worried about the new manager bounce and Chilli being injured. Always choose us though. Could very easily go 2-2.

Gabe Henderson: 2-0 Chelsea

The Blues have the better manager and more cohesive side. Relatively simple victory, despite all of the injuries.

Hugo Amaya: 4-0 Chelsea

A dominant performance against a weak Man United side. The Red Devils may be motivated by the new manager coming in soon, but they have no structure and no plan otherwise. On the other hand, Chelsea has these things in abundance. Therefore, two goals in each half will give the Blues a solid win with not much to worry about.

Tan Yi Hao: 3-0 Chelsea

It has been four years since Chelsea last beat Man United in the league and its time to set that record straight.

Oliver Smith: 3-1 Chelsea

This scoreline could very well be different when Rangnick is in the Man United dugout. For now, its only hope is a vintage Ronaldo display, but with Chelsea’s back line stability, it will be a rough day for the Portuguese striker. Chilwell is a massive loss for the Blues but Marcos Alonso will come in and score a screamer, another headed goal (this time from Andreas Christensen) and a late Mason Mount dagger to cap off the three points.

Kevin Peacock: 2-0 Chelsea

Tuchel has got this Chelsea squad playing exceptionally. United, on the other hand, is still trying to recover from the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Where the Blues go though, United follows. Once again, the Red Devils desperately try to adopt and perhaps, more importantly, execute the Chelsea model by bringing German coach Rangnick to the club. However, that’s Man United’s future and it will be Carrick pitting his wits against Tuchel. That will be no easy task, even with Ronaldo in the side. Goals from Mount and substitute Lukaku seal the win.

Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea

The fear of logging onto Twitter after a loss to Man United should be enough to motivate Chelsea’s players alone, but the ever-intensifying title race makes these three points absolutely necessary. Carrick’s tactical accumen does not particularly concern me, but the fact that Solskjaer is no longer on the touchline gives the Red Devils a better chance for a result. The Lukaku revenge narrative is too strong not to come through, so expect a brace from the Belgian hitman.
