‘I’ve been really enjoying it. I think the plan for me was to go away to Fulham to get some minutes, to feel confident in my body again… and stay injury free – that was the main thing because after the injury it was tough.

‘But I always had intentions of coming back to Chelsea afterwards, to fight for my place, and so I’ve been really enjoying my time on the pitch.

‘I’ve always felt a good connection with the Chelsea fans, ever since I made my debut. I’ve always felt like they were behind me, wanting me to do well. Even coming off the back of the Fulham season, when I kind of fell off the radar – being in a team that got relegated and not scoring too much goals or getting assists – to come back and hear the fans still sing your name is such a good feeling. That reiterates that point about how the fans are always behind me, wanting me to succeed, so I’ve always got a place in my heart for the Chelsea fans, for sure. 100 per cent.’

Speaking of fans’ favourites, you can also hear from Frank Leboeuf, who went deep on his time at Stamford Bridge and the transformative period he experienced here at Chelsea. It’s a fantastic first-person account of an iconic time at the club.
