Chelsea have sent an email to fans to announce that voting for the unofficial supporters’ group advisor to the board has now opened.

Six candidates have been selected and put forward, each with a statement for their candidacy. After the voting, three candidates will be chosen for the roles as advisors to the board.

The unofficial supporters’ group consists of members from the Chelsea Supporters Trust, Chelsea Supporters Group, Chelsea Supporters Club and Chelsea Pitch Owners who all had a say in selecting the six candidates.

The introduction of supporters on the board in an advisory role will come as a welcome announcement for Blues fans just six months after the creation and then downfall of the European Super League.

Chelsea, along with Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham, all joined the breakaway league along with other European heavyweights.

However, the formation of a breakaway league was heavily scrutinised by football supporters, none more so than Chelsea fans who made their way to Stamford Bridge to let their feelings known about a move that was seemingly driven by income rather than the fanbase.

The inclusion of fans on an advisory basis would ideally stop this from happening in the future and could improve the fan experience at Stamford Bridge going forward.
