Chelsea offered Donnarumma before PSG move

Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Gigio Donnarumma in the summer.

The Italy goalkeeper left AC Milan for Paris Saint Germain in a Bosman deal during the summer Euros.

However via Fussball Transfers, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports Donnarumma's agent Mino Raiola first offered him to Chelsea.

Chelsea rejected the approach, happy with their keeper options of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Blues management have decided on Mendy being their long-term No1. The Senegal international is being celebrated today after an outstanding performance on Saturday for Chelsea's 1-0 win at Brentford.

Donnarumma, meanwhile, has tasted first team action at PSG after a delayed debut due to fitness concerns. Superb for Italy in their Euro 2020 title triumph, Donnarumma joined PSG late in preseason. He has so far has managed five appearances for his new French club, conceding four goals.
