With one year left on his current deal, he would be able to leave the club as a free agent next summer.

According to the Mirror, Rudiger may have the opportunity command a salary of £400,000.

Given their history of signing players for free in recent times, both Bayern Munich and Juventus are both keen on securing his services, and might be able to pay him the big bucks.

There is, though, still a possiblity an agreement may come to fruition if both parties can agree on the figures.

Romelu Lukaku is currently the club's highest earner, reportedly taking home £325,000-a-week, and it has been believed Rudiger's offer was £130,000-a-week.

If both parties fail to come to an agreement, the centre-back is free to speak to any foreign club when the transfer window opens on 1st January.

Bayern's manager, Julian Nagelsmann even added fuel to the fire by talking about his admiration for the player.

“I’m generally not a big fan of talking about players who are under contract elsewhere, and besides, we’re outside the transfer period," he stated previously.

“I’m talking about him now as a football fan because he is a German senior international.

"He has made a super development. Thomas [Tuchel] has handled him extremely well – he was still on the sidelines at Chelsea a year ago and is now certainly one of their most decisive players."

With Rudiger set to end his time at Stamford Bridge, Matthijs De Ligt could replace him, according to reports.

Having failed to land Jules Kounde in the summer transfer window, the Blues are expected to look elsewhere and have shortlisted the Dutchman as their main target.

He reportedly has a £130million release clause but could be available for less than that.
