Marcos Alonso was relentlessly booed Tottenham fans on Sunday, but the Chelsea defender has revealed that the jeers only spurred him on.

Alonso was a standout performer as the Blues turned on the style in the second half to dispatch their London rivals 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Spaniard has been on terrific form so far this season and has kept £50million England man Ben Chilwell on the sidelines due to his excellent displays.

And he has now admitted getting booed by the hostile Spurs crowd was 'music to his ears'.

“I love it! To be booed when you play away, it’s music to my ears," the 30-year-old told The Telegraph.

"It might be because I have scored a few goals against them and I think they maybe have these memories in their head when I touch the ball, so yeah I love it and even more when we get the three points.”

Just like Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Brentford's Ivan Toney, Alonso also revealed he's stopped taking the knee as he believes it's lost its impact.

In Chelsea's last three outings, he has instead opted to stand and point at the 'No Room for Racism' badge that adorns the sleeve of every player in the Premier League.

"I just prefer to do it this way," Alonso said. "It's my way to do it.

" I think it's another way. And maybe I think it's losing a bit of strength the other way. So I just prefer to do it this way and to show I am fully supportive of fighting against racism.

"I am fully against racism and I'm against every type of discrimination. I just prefer to put my finger to the badge where it says: 'No to racism', like they do in some other sports and football in other countries.

"I prefer to do it this way and, of course, to say very clearly that I am against racism and I respect everybody."
