Alan Shearer has selected four Chelsea players and Thomas Tuchel for his Premier League Team Of The Week.

Tuchel’s quartet earned their spot in the XI thanks to the dismantling of Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Three second-half goals sealed Spurs’ fate and ensured the points made it safely back to Stamford Bridge.

All of the Blues’ stars called up for Shearer’s XI had a hand in the 45-minute north London massacre on Sunday.

Thiago Silva opened the floodgates shortly after the interval, just reward for how he handled the first period and game as a whole.

It was only the Brazilian’s second start of the season but he showed no signs of rust against a Spurs side that looked menacing in the opening exchanges.

“Led by example, scored the all-important first goal and kept Son (Heung-min) at bay,” wrote Shearer.

Alongside Silva was his defensive rock, Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger also added to Tottenham’s misery, slicing the third and final dagger through their midriff moments before the match concluded.

“The second Chelsea centre-back to score, producing a neat finish and playing a key role in defence.”

Silva, Rudiger and who else?

Marcos Alonso provided the inch-perfect cross for Silva’s goal, a delivery he had been threatening to serve up all afternoon.

“Wonderful delivery for Thiago Silva’s header and controlled the left flank for the Blues,” complimented Shearer.

And the icing on the cake came in the form of the sweet treat that is N’Golo Kante.

Tuchel recognised Chelsea were being contained by Tottenham so substituted on the Frenchman to alter proceedings.

The Blues instantly looked a different proposition, propelled by their £30m (BBC) miniature midfielder.

Kante doubled the away team’s advantage after an hour, an effort from range that took a meaty deflection off Eric Dier.

“He came on at half-time and inspired Chelsea’s victory with his energy in midfield. His goal was well deserved.”

Not to let his squad get all the plaudits, Tuchel also rightly got a mention from Shearer for the way he tactically approached the fixture.

“The German’s half-time introduction of Kante and tactical tweak inspired Chelsea to an impressive win at Spurs.

“(Chelsea) will take some beating in the title race this season.”
