Chelsea fans couldn’t resist taunting their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday's pre-season friendly about the whereabouts of striker Harry Kane.

The English forward has not attended Spurs training for the past two days as he was on a family holiday in the Bahamas.

However, he has extended his break in favour of spending a few more days in America on his way home, which means that he will most likely not be available for the first game of the season.

It has been speculated that Kane done this to aggravate Spurs, in a bid to force his club to open negotiations with Manchester City and ultimately help him leave the north Londoners.

The 28-year-old signed a six-year contract extension with Tottenham in 2018, meaning that he will have to wait until 2024 to leave the club for free if Daniel Levy refuses to sell him.

The idea of star striker Kane leaving North London has entertained plenty of fan bases since the news broke, and Chelsea supporters have made that known by chanting about his absence on Wednesday evening.

Whilst the Blues were taking on Spurs at Stamford Bridge, chants of ‘Where the f*** is Harry Kane?’ bellowed around the stadium, according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold.

Kane purposefully missing training has divided the football community.

Some fans are claiming that Kane is ruining his reputation at the club that gave him his career; whereas others believe the prolific finisher has every right to demand a move and further his career after years of trophyless heartache at Spurs.

Reports from The Sun claim that it will take an offer of £160m for Spurs to let Kane depart, which will make him the most expensive Englishman of all time, overtaking the soon-to-be record holder Jack Grealish.

If the Pep Guardiola's side are willing to match that asking price, Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santos will have plenty of newfound funds to use as he wishes.

The former Wolves boss will need to bring in a new striker as a matter of emergency and also can bolster his squad in other positions too.

They are close to securing the signature of Atalanta defender Cristian Romero for £47million.

Sky Sports claim that the deal will be completed this week, with the 23-year-old centre-back flying to London soon to agree personal terms with the club.

But Romero won’t be the only player leaving the Serie A for a London club in the next few weeks either, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are in talks with Inter Milan about bringing Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian forward left the club permanently in 2014 despite impressing in season-long loans at West Brom and Everton.

After a brief, unsuccessful spell at Manchester United, Lukaku joined Inter for €80m and has been in fine form ever since.

In 72 league appearances the striker has scored 47 goals, and his 24 goals last season were crucial in Inter Milan’s title win.

He is expected to set Roman Abramovich back at least £95m, but the chance that he helps the team build on their Chelsea’s 2020/21 Champions League win could make that significant fee worth it.
