Chelsea fans took great delight in mocking Tottenham over Harry Kane's transfer stand-off as the two sides met in a pre-season friendly that was anything but on Wednesday.

Kane, 28, has gone awol this week, failing to report back for training in an attempt to force through a move to Manchester City.

Tottenham's captain believes he has a gentleman's agreement with chairman Daniel Levy to move on this summer, but Levy is standing firm as the striker digs his heels in.

Unsurprisingly, Kane was not named in Nuno Espirito Santo's squad for the club's pre-season friendly at Stamford Bridge - to the delight of Chelsea fans.

Before kick-off, Blues supporters inside the ground could be heard chanting: "Where the f*** is Harry Kane?"

Spurs fans on social media took the jibe in good heart as they questioned exactly where their captain was.

One person wrote: "Good question chelsea fans if you find out let us know."

Someone else said: "The Spurs fans on the stadium should join in too we really wanna know."

A third person added: "If they find out could they let us know."

Levy could be forgiven for asking similar questions as Tottenham's battle to keep the England international threatens to turn ugly.

Kane further angered the club's hierarchy after ignoring orders to return from his holiday.

Last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner has extended his break, moving from the Bahamas to Florida.

Both destinations are on the government's amber list, meaning Kane will have to undergo a five-day quarantine when he returns home.

He would be released from quarantine if he takes a day five test that is negative.

It means that the earliest Kane would be able to return to Tottenham training is next Sunday - just seven days before the club's Premier League season opener against City, of all teams.

Kane is almost certain to miss that match as he attempts to force through a transfer to Pep Guardiola's side.
