Chelsea have reportedly offered Sevilla an out-of-favour squad player in an attempt to seal Jules Kounde’s transfer this summer.

The Blues are believed to have reached personal terms with the 22-year-old Frenchman but are still trying to agree a fee with the La Liga club.

Goal reports that the Champions League winners have offered Kenedy, 25, to Sevilla but they are not interested in the Brazilian as part of the deal.

Kounde is believed to have a £68million release clause in his contract which Chelsea are reluctant to activate, instead attempting to drive down his price by including players as bargaining chips.

The central-defender is reportedly keen to move to Stamford Bridge but is waiting for the clubs to come to an agreement.

Chelsea have already had a £30million plus Kurt Zouma deal rejected by Sevilla, with the long-time Blues defender now linked with a move to West Ham.

Kounde is one of the most highly-sought young defenders in European football with Arsenal failing in their attempts to sign him this summer due to their lack of Champions League football.

It is unclear how Chelsea thought Kenedy would sweeten the deal, with the winger having failed to impress in recent seasons.

Kenedy last played a game for Chelsea in the 2017/18 season before being loaned out to Newcastle United, Getafe and more recently Grenada where he scored four goals in 28 appearances.

He is unlikely to feature again for the London side but the Blues will have to mount a more convincing bid if they are to convince Sevilla to part ways with their most exciting player.
