Chelsea have reportedly made Romelu Lukaku a priority in the transfer market after Borussia Dortmund made it clear that Erling Haaland is not for sale this summer at any price.

With Inter Milan struggling financially as a result of the pandemic, a deal to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge is thought to be possible if Chelsea wanted to go down that route, despite the Serie A Club’s CEO, Giuseppe Morotta, declaring the Belgian as “non-transferable.”

“Can Lukaku be considered non-transferable? From our side, yes, absolutely,” he told Italian outlet Sportmediaset, via The Chelsea Chronicle.

“Lukaku is an important element in this chessboard at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal.”

However, now that the Blues look set to miss out on Haaland due to Dortmund’s stance, Lukaku has jumped back to the top of the west London club’s wanted list, as per The Telegraph.

And with that news in mind, some Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club’s hierarchy to sign Lukaku, primarily to finally fill the striker void in Thomas Tuchel’s side, but also to see him redeem himself in Chelsea blue after his first-spell that ended in 2014.

Here’s a sample of what’s been said:

@branojr said: “If we made him our #1 priority from day one he would have pushed for it, but because we always make him feel second choice he won’t push.”

@EzzWith said: "So, can you rate our chances of getting Lukaku? We really need a striker if we are to push for the PL title.. Abraham & Werner were poor again and again yesterday - and could we get Harry Kane if City got Grealish ?!!”

@UberChelseaFC said: “Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea is unfinished business. Remember that.”

@CFCDuBois said: “Lukaku or Haaland, just throw the bank at either of them & give them one of Roman’s yachts as a bonus. As the days go by, the reality of Ashley Barnes arriving increases.”

@AmorexBanks said: “De Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku were all seen as “average” watch it happen again and you delusional “fans” will never learn.”

@devlin_conor said: "Actually rather not get anyone, waste of effort and time and end with Lukaku. Haaland or bust."

There’s still a long way to go with this transfer, but now that Chelsea have reportedly reaffirmed their long-standing interest in the 28-year-old, anything is possible.
