Young Chelsea center back Marc Guéhi is set to join Crystal Palace, according to multiple reports today, in a deal worth £15-20m, with a sell-on clause as well as “matching rights” on a future transfer (i.e. we can match any accepted bid by Palace).

That’s a pretty good deal for a defender with 18 months of senior professional football under his belt — all of which he had spent on loan at Swansea City in the Championship, to mostly excellent reviews. Guéhi turned 21 just a couple days ago, and is expected to be a key player for new manager Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park.

Guéhi did have two years left on his Chelsea contract, which made another loan a possibility, but it looks like he will be leaving for good after just a few days of training with the first-team this week. Palace beat out interest from several teams in England as well as Germany for the youngster’s signature.

With a medical reportedly happening today, this should be official shortly.
