Chelsea have seen their opening bid for Erling Haaland, including a player swap, rejected by Borussia Dortmund amid interest from both Manchester clubs

Manchester United and Man City are expected to have a busy summer transfer window and are hoping to bolster their attacking options.

City need a striker following the release of record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, with Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski among the players who have been linked with a move to the Etihad.

United would ideally like a long-term successor Edinson Cavani, who has renewed his contract for another year but is 34 years old.

Chelsea are in desperate need of a striker as they look to mount a series title push under Thomas Tuchel in the coming season and Haaland is reportedly seen as their top target.

As relayed by Sky Sports, Sky Germany have reported that the Blues have put in their opening bid for Haaland which included a player swap.

Out-of-favour striker Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi were both proposed to the Bundesliga side.

Dortmund are determined to keep their star striker though, especially with Jadon Sancho set to join United for £73m.

The Bundesliga side have therefore turned down Chelsea's bid and the Blues will have to decide whether to put in a new bid for the prolific Norwegian striker.

Haaland has been a revelation since joining Dortmund 18-months ago, scoring 57 goals for the Bundesliga outfit in just 59 matches.

Dortmund have repeatedly stated that Haaland will remain at Signal Iduna Park this season after sanctioning the sale of Sancho to United - and wouldn't let him go for less than £150 million.

The 20-year-old has a clause in his contract meaning he would be available for just £70m next summer, which could spark a fierce battle for his signature.
