The 21-year-old defender spent the last year and a half at Championship club Swansea City, who he helped reach the playoff semi-final in the last campaign.

Having impressed for Steve Cooper’s side, Guehi attracted significant transfer interest from several clubs, including Newcastle United and West Ham.

However, it has emerged that Crystal Palace are close to completing the signing of the England Under-21 international from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

Guehi is having a medical with Crystal Palace today and is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Selhurst Park outfit soon.

While it remains to be seen how much the Eagles have agreed to pay for the defender’s signature, reluctant sellers Chelsea are said to have got a package that they could not refuse.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have inserted a sell-on clause into their agreement with Crystal Palace and also have the matching rights on a future move for the player.

Guehi is in line to follow Michael Olise and Remi Matthews to join Crystal Palace this summer.
