Chelsea have underlined their desire to sign Erling Haaland by turning down the chance to sign Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.

The Catalans are looking to raise funds and are willing to offload the forward with the player's representatives in London ahead of potential talks.

Barcelona are desperate to get Griezmann off their wage bill as they look to re-sign Lionel Messi.

The Frenchman moved to the Nou Camp from Atletico Madrid for £107 back in 2019 but has been unable to produce regularly.

Chelsea and Manchester City were both offered the chance to sign the World Cup winner, but both have rejected the opportunity, reports the Daily Star.

The Blues remain committed to signing Haaland for Borussia Dortmund as they seek to add a prolific striker.

Thomas Tuchel guided the west London side to the Champions League crown, but his side are in need of goals.

The German side are confident they can keep Haaland for one more year as they prepare to lose Jadon Sancho.

Sebastian Kehl, the club's head of first-team football, told Sky Germany: "There is nothing new on this matter. He is in our plans. Erling will return this week and he will be very hungry.

"He wants to play football, he feels comfortable with us and he will be eager to score many goals."

Tuchel, who is yet to add any new faces at Stamford Bridge, did admit in recent months that he was keen to bring in new recruits.

"Two or three could be very, very good," The German told reporters in May.

"It’s a constant thing to never deny change. That you always bring new energy, new guys who question the old beliefs, who challenge everybody in the training and in matches, so I think it’s a good thing.

City, a club who could yet provide competition in the race for Haaland, have also said no to the chance of signing Griezmann.

Pep Guardiola saw Sergio Aguero leave the club recently so will be keen to add a new forward.

That said, City managed to win two trophies last term and reach the Champions League final by playing a system that didn't utilise a striker.

Harry Kane is understood to be their man target as his Tottenham future remains uncertain.

City have already seen a bid for the England captain rejected, but they could still return with a fresh offer. Jack Grealish is also on the club's radar.
