It has been a busy start to this summer's transfer window at Stamford Bridge.

After laying their hands on the UEFA Champions League title for the first time in nine years almost a month ago, Chelsea have wasted little time in putting plans in place ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season.

Fikayo Tomori and Victor Moses have both left the club, joining AC Milan and Spartak Moscow, respectively, following successful loan spells, whilst Pierre Ekwah-Elimby and Danilo Pantic have also sealed permanent exits.

But, in truth, it is new arrivals, rather than departures, that the supporters are looking forward to seeing most.

Having arrived at the club towards the end of the January transfer window, this is the first meaningful window that head coach Thomas Tuchel has had the chance to stamp his authority on proceedings, with the German, understandably, wanting to implement his own ideas and forward-thinking philosophy.

Tuchel is understood to be keen on adding three new players, as a minimum, to his squad this summer, with a right-sided defender and a striker at the very top of his wish list. However, the two names that Tuchel has in mind to bolster those areas of the squad are Inter Milan ace Achraf Hakimi and Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, meaning neither of them will come cheaply.

If reports are to be believed, Chelsea would be looking at more than £200million just to sign the duo, meaning it would, without a doubt, use up all of Tuchel's summer budget - and most probably not allow him to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Fortunately, though, Chelsea have no shortage of fringe players that they are open to selling this summer, both to trim the size of the squad and raise funds for other new additions.

But whilst it is highly likely that the likes of Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley, for instance, could move on, household names, including Hakim Ziyech and Olivier Giroud, could also leave Stamford Bridge.

That is because, according to Sky Sports, Italian heavyweights AC Milan are interested in signing the pair this summer, as they look to add new nuggets of quality to their ranks.

Milan see Ziyech as an ideal replacement for the recently departed Hakan Calhanoglu, who joined arch-rivals Inter Milan on a free transfer earlier this week.

Ziyech only joined Chelsea just over a year ago, but he has failed to live up to expectations in west London, meaning the Blues may consider the prospect of selling the Morocco international to fund potential new arrivals. According to transfer market specialists, transfermarkt, Ziyech currently has a value of £34.2m.

Giroud, on the other hand, saw a clause within his Blues contract triggered back in April, meaning he has been tied down for a further year, keeping him under contract until the summer of 2022.

Milan are reported to have agreed personal terms with the France international, but an agreement over a fee remains unresolved. Giroud is hoping Chelsea grant him an exit on a free transfer, but the Blues are likely to try and push for every penny that they can get.

He is currently valued, according to transfermarkt, at just £3.6m.

Whilst those two have been regulars at Stamford Bridge in the last 12 months, Milan also have their eye on another Chelsea player, this time in the form of defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. The former AS Monaco man has spent the last three seasons out on loan, most recently with Italian giants Napoli.

But he has also spent time with Milan in the past, playing for the San Siro club during the 2018/19 season, which did feature the option for Milan to sign him permanently if he impressed.

Bakayoko, at the age of 26, is now in a position where he most probably wants to find a permanent home and enter the most important stage of his career with a degree of certainty.

Milan are keen on re-signing him and is currently valued, by transfermarkt, at £18m.

Thus, if Chelsea were to offload Ziyech, Giroud and Bakayoko this summer, and Milan paid three transfer fees for what they are all roughly worth, the Blues could inherit a £55.8m windfall.

That figure could go an awfully long way in trying to fund a deal for Hakimi, with Inter said to want around just £10m more than what Ziyech, Giroud and Bakayoko are worth combined.
