CHELSEA are reportedly plotting an extraordinary bid for Robert Lewandowski, should they miss out on Erling Haaland.

The Bayern Munich striker has been in all-conquering form and yet is thought to be considering a move away.

With his contract up in 2023, Bayern are will not field any offers for the Pole at any price this summer, according to Sport Bild.

Yet a move in 12 months' time is not inconceivable with Chelsea described as keen on a deal.

Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku are also on their watch list but would command huge fees.

Borussia Dortmund want over £150million for their star forward, who could be available for less than half of that when a release clause is enacted next year.

Thomas Tuchel's side are determined to land a new attacker this summer, with Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham linked with moves away.

But they may need to be patient if they are to sign one of the world's top marksmen.

Competition for Haaland will be high next summer with Bayern tipped to be among the bidders.

Should the Bavarian giants complete a deal for the Norwegian, Lewandowski is said to be a more feasible option for Chelsea.

One last big challenge before he enters the twilight of his career is reportedly desirable for the 32-year-old.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich has long ties to Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, who helped the Russian buy Chelsea and is something of a neighbour in Tel Aviv.
