AC Milan are keen on making their loan deal for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori a permanent transfer this summer.

The skillful centre-back, who had found himself out of favour at Chelsea, has flourished for Milan this season, shoring up their defence in his 19 appearances for the club.

Milan currently sit third in the Serie A table and look set for Champions League football next season.

Keeping the Chelsea star would boost the club's chances in Europe next season, his partnership with Norwegian defender Simon Kjær has been key to their success.

The English defender, 23, has contributed to four clean sheets and even bagged himself a goal against Juventus on Sunday in a vital 3-0 victory.

The Italian giants have an option to buy the defender at the end of the six-month loan and manager Stefano Piolo made his desire to retain his services no secret.

Speaking on the centre-back, he said: "We want to buy Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea.

"Our intention is clear and also Fikayo’s decision [staying at Milan].

"We’ll see what happens at the end of the season."

Tomori has a huge decision to make, as the prospect of returning to Chelsea to play for Thomas Tuchel may be enough to keep him in England.

However with the emergence of Antonio Rüdiger, and the successful turnaround The Blues have had, there may not be place for Tomori back at Stamford Bridge.
