Kerr, Kirby dominate Reading as Chelsea win fourth WSL title

Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr were on fine form as Chelsea eased past Reading 5-0 to win their fourth Women's Super League title at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

The league's most prolific duo teamed up for three of Chelsea's goals with Melanie Leupolz and Erin Cuthbert also scoring.

"I've loved every minute of it. I've loved playing football again, I've loved being part of this team, I've found a new love for it and this is really special," Kirby told BT Sport after the game.

"The character in this team is incredible -- one goal is not enough, we want to go and score again and again. We pride ourselves on scoring goals, but we also keep clean sheets."

The result puts Emma Hayes' side on track to win the domestic Treble having already secured the Continental Cup.

Leupolz netted the fastest goal in the league this year when she scored after just one minute and eight seconds.

Jess Carter delivered a low cross into the box which Leupolz side-footed past Grace Moloney into the net.

Kirby added Chelsea's second after 44 minutes. The England international set Kerr off down the left side and, as they have done so many times this season, Kerr returned the ball to her when she entered the box for her to stroke home.

The duo teamed up again on 57 minutes with Kerr holding the ball on the edge of the penalty box before Kirby arrived. The Australia international passed the ball to her strike partner who took a touch before whipping a strong left-footed shot into Moloney's net.

Kirby repaid Kerr's earlier service with a chip over the top of the Reading defence which Kerr slotted home on 71 minutes.

Cuthbert added Chelsea's fifth four minutes later when the ball broke to her right in front of goal and Moloney failed to keep her shot out.
