It is a big day for Reading and England legend Fara Williams as she plays her final game for the Royals.

Williams, who has played 172 times for England during the course of her career, is playing her final match for Reading this afternoon as the Royals face Chelsea in the Women's Super League.

It is a big game for Chelsea, who go into the game two points ahead of Manchester City as Emma Hayes' side look to try and secure the title.

But Chelsea have showed their class ahead of the game at Kingsmeadow, with the presentation of a signed shirt for Williams prior to kick off.

Lionesses legend Williams, 37, announced her retirement from the game last week, but went out on a home soil high as her first-half penalty helped the Royals to a 3-2 win over Brighton.

Prior to that game, Williams was given a guard of honour by both teams at the Madejski Stadium, with Reading boss Kelly Chambers saying that the 172-cap international’s absence will leave a huge hole in her squad.

“She has been a huge part of this club over the past four seasons. She has still had the hunger and desire to improve as a player," she said.

“Her personality is infectious, something our dressing room will miss.

This will be her final game in Reading colours though, with Royals players pausing their warm-up at Kingsmeadow to join the applause for Williams as she was presented with the signed shirt.
