Chelsea have reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2014 and fans of the West Londoners are dreaming once more.

While Mehdi Taremi’s incredible overhead kick into the top corner did mean Porto beat Chelsea 1-0 on the night, The Blues’ 2-0 first-leg victory against The Dragons meant Chelsea progressed to the last-four 2-1 on aggregate.

With favourites Bayern Munich ousted by Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo once again nowhere to be seen, the Champions League has perhaps never been more open.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will take on Real Madrid in the semi-final, in what will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in the competition of Europe’s elite.

Even before the German’s arrival, Chelsea have been nothing short of sensational in the Champions League this season, breezing through their group and even hammering last season’s Europa League winners Sevilla 4-0 in the Spanish side’s own back yard.

Chelsea boast a talented and youthful squad and, according to calciomercato.com, it could be set to be bolstered even more with The Blues reigniting their interest in marauding Juventus full-back, Alex Sandro.

Sandro has made 26 appearances in all competitions this term.

The Brazilian, who was once labelled the successor to Roberto Carlos by, well, Roberto Carlos himself, has been a long-term target of The Blues and was almost signed by Antonio Conte in 2017.

The 30-year-old defender’s talent and experience means he will not be cheap, however, The Blues could offer Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri to Andrea Pirlo’s side as a bargaining chip for Sandro’s services.

Emerson has found opportunities hard to come by under both Frank Lampard and Tuchel, but Juventus have been interested in the Italy international ever since Massimiliano Allegri was in charge; therefore, this deal could be a win-win situation for both sides.
