Aguero open to Chelsea move

Chelsea are reportedly keeping their eye on Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Argentine has not ‘closed the door’ on the prospect of joining the Blues amid huge interest from Barcelona.

The report states that the 32-year-old would be delighted to join his friend Lionel Messi but also values other proposals.

It is also rumoured that the striker is aware Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman’s preferred signing is Memphis Depay. This factor could increase Chelsea’s hopes of signing Aguero if they are interested.

Aguero is ranked fourth in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts. Staying in England could help push him further up the list as he is currently six goals behind Andy Cole, who is third.

The Argentine also reportedly wants his destination to be a club where he can feature regularly to keep himself in contention for the next World Cup.

Merson praises Havertz

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has praised the recent performances of Kai Havertz.

Writing in his column, the Sky Sports pundit predicted that the German has a bright future ahead of him after a tough start in England.

‘I said Havertz would be a player,’ he said. ‘He is a lad who has arrived with a big price tag and with everything going on in the world.

‘He had "long Covid" and that affected him.’

The 21-year-old showed his class again with his involvement in our 4-1 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend. Havertz scored the opener then set up Christian Pulisic minutes later as the Blues dominated at Selhurst Park.

‘When you watch him the other day, he is a class act,’ Merson continued. ‘He is proper. I think he will be a superstar and in time to come, he will be special.’

Courtois excited about Stamford Bridge return

Thibaut Courtois has revealed he is excited to return to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will face Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League which will see us cross paths with two former players in the Belgian goalkeeper and Eden Hazard.

‘It will be nice to see a lot of familiar faces,’ Courtois told BeIN Sports. ‘I wish there were fans at Stamford Bridge because there was a lot of happy moments I had there.’

The 28-year-old appeared 154 times for the Blues and he remembers all the great memories of winning titles as a Chelsea player.

‘I only have good memories,’ he added. ‘Two Premier Leagues and a lot of other trophies.

‘I’m really happy to play them but only one can be in the final.’
