Chelsea are in a strong position to sign Sergio Aguero this summer when his Manchester City career finally comes to an end.

The Argentinian is poised for an emotional farewell at the Etihad after a decade with the club.

Aguero’s been a phenomenal and loyal servant for City, but Pep Guardiola is ready to move on without him.

The 32-year-old has had a tough year with fitness troubles keeping him out of action for large parts of this season.

However, Aguero still has plenty to offer at the top level, and Chelsea are keen to keep him in the Premier League.

Title-bound City will not be able to block the goalscorer from signing for a direct rival as his contract expires in June.

And according to TYC Sports , Chelsea have huge advantages in the race to sign him.

Aguero wants to stay in English football as he still feels he can add to his goalscoring tally in the Premier League.

The hitman is confident he can still pose a real threat to defenders in the division and is not ready to switch to another potentially easier league.

Aguero only has one Premier League goal this term, although he has only made nine appearances.

He has 181 goals to date in England’s top flight, as well as 46 assists, and Chelsea’s need for a reliable scorer up top suits both parties.

While Aguero wants to stay in the division, another boost for the Blues is the player’s international ambitions.

Aguero is intent on playing at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Showing he can still cut it in the Premier League would be a sure fire way to get into the squad for the mid-season tournament next year.

Aguero has 97 caps for Argentina, having scored 41 goals for his country.
