Chelsea fullback Ben Chilwell was delighted to be part of victory at Liverpool on Thursday night.

Chilwell was one of a number of impressive performances in the Chelsea side and the defender feels that the entire team deserves praise for the shift put in against the Reds.

"It was a brilliant performance," Chilwell told the club's website. "All season we've been looking for a big win against one of the big teams and we thoroughly deserved this win."

The defender has taken his chance well in recent weeks, featuring ahead of Marcos Alonso who started as first choice left wing-back under manager Thomas Tuchel.

Chilwell acknowledges the healthy competition for places at Chelsea and feels it is something that can only benefit the Blues going forward.

"Competition for places is always high at Chelsea and I knew that when I signed for the club,"he added.

"Every position has two or three really strong players competing and that can only be good for the future of the club, having good players pushing one another to be better.

"When you come into the side, you have to take your chance and prove you should be playing and that level of pressure can only be good for the team going forward."
