Klopp on what to expect from Tuchel

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Thomas Tuchel ahead of our mouth-watering clash against the Reds at Anfield.

The two Germans have had similar paths to the upper echelons of football, with both having stints at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

In his press conference, the Liverpool manager shared what he has seen from Tuchel’s side so far.

‘I think we saw a lot of the things already in the games they played so far,’ the German said. ‘They were very successful.

‘A clear philosophy, clear idea, absolutely possession-based, different formations. He used the time and got immediate results but used the time as well to gain more knowledge about the squad.’

The Blues are unbeaten under Tuchel and are one point off the top four and Klopp praised the boss for changing things at Stamford Bridge.

‘He changed quite a lot and that’s normal with the number of games we have,’ Klopp continued. ‘All the other positions he changed a lot, just to get all the information you need about the squad.

‘They are now a step further and we will face them now. It will be interesting.

Turnbull on differences at Hartlepool and Chelsea

Formers Blues goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has opened up on the contrast between training at Hartlepool and Chelsea.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Turnbull opened up on the experience he has gained as a goalkeeper coach for National League side Hartlepool.

From training at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Turnbull is happy to be working his way from the fifth tier of English football.

‘A club like Chelsea will have 20 balls for the goalkeepers and a big net behind the goal if you miss the target,’ he said. ‘But we have to run and collect ours. When you’re the coach, you can tell the young goalkeepers to collect them.

‘Everyone chips in at Hartlepool and does their bit. You have to do that little bit extra at this level. At Chelsea, someone else will do it.’

The 36-year-old spent four years with the Blues, sharing goalkeeping duties with Petr Cech and Henrique Hilario, two former goalkeepers who now work for the club.

‘The three of us were a tight, working group when we were the goalkeepers at Chelsea,’ he added. ‘We were competitive in training.

‘We pushed each other. Petr was number one and we’d help him prepare for matches but he’d do the same if I or Hilario were playing. That’s massively important.’

Turnbull won two FA Cups, one Premier League title and was part of the Champions League-winning squad in 2012.
