Chelsea are considering a summer move to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma as the AC Milan goalkeeper continues to stall on signing a new contract.

Donnarumma, who is still only 22, has made over 200 appearances for the Italian giants but has yet to agree a new deal at the San Siro.

Chelsea brought in Edouard Mendy from Rennes for £20million in the summer but it is understood Blues chiefs see the Senegal stopper as back-up as they look to get Kepa Arrizabalaga off their books.

According to Eurosport, Stamford Bridge chiefs would 'jump' at the opportunity to sign Donnarumma, who has made 22 appearances for Italy.

Reports in January suggested Milan had offered Donnarumma a deal worth up to £6million annually, but no agreement has been made between the two parties.

The news spells more bad new for Kepa, who has been made second choice at Stamford Bridge following Mendy’s arrival.

Kepa was surprisingly handed his first Premier League start under Tuchel in the victory over Newcastle last month.

However, the German made it clear that Mendy was Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper after the match.

“Edou is the No.1, this is clear,” Tuchel told Sky Sports. “It was clear before the game and it stays like this.

“I am happy Kepa continued with a second clean sheet. It was the moment to let him feel the rhythm and build up his confidence.

“It was clear before that we hoped for the best performance, but Edou will be in goal from now on as he recovered physically and mentally and right now, he is the No.1.”
