A slightly fortunate win in the FA Cup last night has kept Chelsea’s good form under Thomas Tuchel going, and now the team is able to look forward to our next Premier League game on Monday night, against Newcastle.
The cup gave Tuchel plenty of chances to rest players, but there are also a few injuries to starters that he was asked about in the press conference this morning.
According to the new manager, whose quotes were picked up by Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, Thiago Silva will be out.
Tuchel on injuries: "It was not concussion related at all. It was a headache [for Christensen]. For the other guys, it is Friday and we still have three training sessions. It should be okay for Timo to come back. It is maybe too close for Kai and for sure for Thiago Silva." #CFC

It sounds like Havertz isn't far away but might not make Newcastle and Thiago Silva is still aiming to be fit to face Southampton on 20 February. #CFC

Tuchel said his medics were “trying hard” to get Silva back for next week’s other game against Southampton, which seems a reasonable target.
Kai Havertz sounds like he’s definitely out too, but he is more replaceable, and there are questions over whether he would actually be in Tuchel’s first team anyway.
Andreas Christensen, who left the game at half time last night, just had a “headache”, and should be ready to return to fill in for Silva against the Magpies.
