Blues keen on Eriksen

The Blues are reportedly interested in bringing Christian Eriksen to Stamford Bridge.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Chelsea are one of the clubs who are exploring the possibility of bringing the Dane back to the Premier League.

Eriksen, who turns 29 on Sunday, has struggled to find playing time at Inter Milan under former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

The midfielder moved to Italy from Tottenham last January and hasn’t cemented his place in the team.

However, he has shown his quality when called upon. He recently scored a 97th-minute winner against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia.

According to the report, talks are at an early stage but Eriksen’s former ties to rivals Tottenham do not seem to be a big factor.

Richards labels Alonso as ‘vital’

Micah Richards is convinced Marcos Alonso will have an important role to play under Thomas Tuchel.

Before our new head coach’s arrival, Alonso struggled for game time and hadn’t appeared for the Blues since September.

However, the German has since implemented a three-at-the-back formation, a system that got the best out of the Spaniard at Chelsea under Antonio Conte. Richards believes he still has a lot to offer the Blues.

‘When I played with him at Fiorentina he could play as one of those in a three at the back or as one of the wing-backs,’ the former Manchester City defender said on BBC Sport, which was also repeated in the Metro.

‘I like him in this position, the wing-back role because he always gets into these areas (the penalty area) causing havoc.’

Alonso has already shown his goal-scoring qualities when he volleyed home the winner against Burnley. His strike was also voted Goal of the Month.

‘He has the composure to bring it down, one touch, two touch and the third one puts it in the back of the net,’ Richards added about Alonso’s goal against Burnley.

‘Under Tuchel, he will be a vital player, because he can play in so many positions.’

Havertz backed by Tah

Kai Havertz’s former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate has backed him to succeed in the Premier League.

Speaking to Sport1, German centre-back Jonathan Tah revealed that he believes it’s only a matter of time until the 21-year-old shows the quality he demonstrated week in and week out in Germany.

‘I’ve been watching the Chelsea games regularly since the move,’ he said. ‘It’s super interesting because Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger also play there.’

In his first season in England, so far, Havertz has netted five times and got six assists. The German was also out for a while when he contracted the coronavirus.

However, his former team-mate believes he will win over those in England once he hits top form.

‘I know what qualities Kai has,’ he added. ‘The game is so different in Germany.

‘Give the boy time, then he will show his enormous qualities at Chelsea too. Kai will convince all the critics over there.’
