Transfer rumours have died down a little recently for Chelsea, given the bloated squad and major spending this summer.
There’s always interest ticking along though, and the Guardian today discuss one of Europe’s top targets for this summer – Dayot Upamecano.
As Caughtoffisde note, Chelsea have been one of the sides consistently linked with the French defender, and given that’s one area of the squad we haven’t spent big money on in a few years, it’s a rumour that adds up.
We wouldn’t expect any Chelsea moves this month, especially not of this magnitude, but come this summer we would be very surprised if there wasn’t some kind of contact between the clubs, even if we don’t even up winning the race for him.
Thiago Silva has been superb, but he can’t go on forever, and it’s nice to be in a position where we can watch and wait for our targets to become available, rather than paying big to force moves.
