Billy Gilmour names the former Chelsea player he’s been watching to improve his game

In terms of work rate, attitude, and confidence – they don’t come a lot better than Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour.

And he even has the ability to go with it. There is no doubt that this 19-year old is going to the very top of the game, and his determination to get there is more than admirable.

Which players could be leaving Chelsea this month? Find out here!

Before his injury last year, Gilmour had broken into Frank Lampard’s midfield and was becoming a regular starter. Now, after coming back from a serious injury this season, he is knocking firmly on the door of Lampard once again.

Gilmour plays with a real confidence on the ball, and he really looks to make things happen whenever he gets it.

A lot of this is from watching Cesc Fabregas, and how he played his game. The former Spanish international is instrumental to any midfield he plays in and pulls the strings.

This is what Gilmour is looking to do in his career, as he told the Chelsea website.

He said:

“When I was watching Cesc, it was all about his forward passes to the striker, whether that was a lofted pass, a clipped ball or just a simple through ball.

“He was one of the best at doing that, especially at Chelsea, and I want to add that more to my own game, but it comes first of all from being aware of what’s around you.

“He speaks a lot about the boys because he obviously used to be here but it’s always nice seeing a top midfielder like that comment on your game.”
