Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Wednesday, January 13.

Contact made with Lampard replacements

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with two candidates who could potentially replace Frank Lampard as head coach at Stamford Bridge.

Per Bild’s chief reporter Christian Falk via Caught Offside, Chelsea have already contacted the representatives of Thomas Tuchel and Massimiliano Allegri ahead of a potential appointment to replace Lampard, who is under increasing pressure after a poor run of form.

Chelsea have lost four and won just one of their last six Premier League matches, slipping to within three points of the bottom half. This having spent north of £200 million in the summer is not especially encouraging of Lampard's coaching qualities.

Falk reports that a five-man shortlist of Thomas Tuchel, Max Allegri, Brendan Rodgers, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Julian Nagelsmann has been assembled, while contact has been made with Allegri and Tuchel.

Chelsea lead Moro race

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Lazio youngster Raul Moro, with Marina Granovskaia repeating another trick as she executed when signing Xavier Mbuyamba on a three-year deal last summer.

La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Chelsea have their eye on the talented 18-year-old and could make a move in the future as they continue to gear their recruitment towards high-potential young prospects.

Moro has attracted interest from across the continent but Chelsea are reportedly at the front of the queue.

He made his senior debut for Lazio in July 2020, coming off the bench against Juventus, and has scored eight goals in eight games for the youth team this season.

The January sales which could happen

Chelsea spent north of £200 million in the summer and were always set to focus on outgoing in January as a result. With over two weeks remaining in the winter window, football.london's Chelsea correspondent Adam Newson considered the various players who could still exit this month.

Both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero could depart this month. Chelsea signed the former to a seven-year contract and could send him out on loan for several years to help boost his value before selling him permanently.

Fikayo Tomori is also expected to leave on loan this month as he seeks out regular first-team football, as Lampard has discussed.

"The situation with Fikayo is open at the moment," Lampard said. "There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else. So that would have to be the solution for him and the club."

Finally, a series of reserve players such as Baba Rahman, Danny Drinkwater, Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri could all be moved on at some stage this month.
