Aston Villa keen on permanent transfer for Chelsea man

Ross Barkley had a superb start to life at Aston Villa, and while he’s now been out for some time injured, his incoming return has reminded everyone of how bright his start was.

CaughtOffside, citing the Daily Star, say that there’s great desire to make the loan into a permanent move.

We can understand that – Chelsea have rather squeezed him out with their new signings, Villa have loved what they’ve seen, and Barkley is getting the games he wants in a promising team.

The question is whether the Midlands side will be able to afford his permanent transfer. As CaughtOffside point out, there’s no permanent purchase clause in this loan deal, so Chelsea will be able to demand whatever they want at the end of the season.

If he returns and continues playing well, that could end up being a serious sum.

On the other hand Villa have wealthy owners, and if they really like what they see, they can stump up the cash.
