More details about AC Milan interest in Tomori show Chelsea are taking a calculated risk

Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Italian giants AC Milan are interested in Fikayo Tomori, but without telling us much more.

Today he’s back with more details, adding weight to the idea that this is a move that is really being considered:

We weren’t sure yesterday whether this proposal was for a permanent deal, or for a loan. That’s now been clarified a little – Romano says other Premier League clubs have asked about a loan so we can assume Milan are being offered the same.

He also clears up the path to the first team for Tomori in Italy – Mohamed Simakan is now injured, creating an opening.

He’s still not going to be first choice, but even 4/5 starts there over 6 months might raise his profile and help him lean more than 15 with a relegation battling Premier League side.

That seems to be the logic anyway – we look forward to seeing how it plays out.
