AC Milan “contacted Chelsea” about young defender

Fikayo Tomori has not had a chance at Chelsea this season. Frank Lampard would be the first to tell you that.

He decided to try and play his way into the team but couldn’t manage it, and now a loan for the rest of the season sounds the right plan for both parties.

There had been some Premier League names thrown into the hat, but now Fabrizio Romano has suggested something spicier – AC Milan.

The Italian club have apparently “contacted Chelsea” about the defender.

It’s not clear whether this would be a permanent deal or a loan. Knowing the tendencies of Serie A teams, it could well be a loan with a purchase clause.

We’d like to keep some right to redeem Fikayo. We still believe he can turn into a really top centre back, and some work in Italy might do him good. The risk would be him sitting on the bench there too.
