The first team at Chelsea remain unaffected (even though they use the same training base, but different buildings in the complex), along with Emma Hayes’ women’s squad, as they have maintained separate bubbles.
Those said to be affected are undergoing an isolation period of ten days. The academy team along with the staff and management will undergo another round of testing ahead of the training center being scheduled to reopen sometime next week.
Chelsea U-18’s clash against Brighton and Hove Albion has been cancelled as a result of the developments.
According to a report by The Athletic, as many as 20 positive cases have been reported to have affected the club’s academy. A number of clubs across the Premier League have reported outbreaks. Fulham being the most recent, having already postponed two of their matches.
