Frank Lampard on Timo Werner relief, Billy Gilmour and Callum Hudson-Odoi

Good morning and welcome to today’s football.london Chelsea transfer live blog.

The Blues got back to winning ways yesterday afternoon, with a comfortable 4-0 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup third round.

However, Frank Lampard will know that there is plenty to improve upon for his side, who before Sunday’s tie, had won just once out of their last six games.

January could be a case of more players leaving than coming through the door at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho and Emerson Palmieri all being linked with moves away.

In Lampard’s press conference on Sunday, he revealed that Tomori could be set to leave the Blues on loan this month, with Leeds United and Newcastle United reportedly interested.

We should hear plenty more on that throughout the day, as well as some potential incomings in west London.

With all this in mind, make sure you stay tuned to football.london’s dedicated transfer live blog for all of the latest Chelsea news.

Bakayoko latest

Tiemoue Bakayoko's agent has been speaking about the midfielder's future.

“Too soon to talk about it, there are still so many things to see.

“Neither the club nor the player spoke to each other. Staying in Naples would be a good chance.

“We will see at the end of the season. However, Napoli has priority over his future for June.”

Two undroppable players

Frank Lampard didn’t make as many changes as was predicted for Chelsea’s victory over Morecambe in the FA Cup victory on Sunday but two players who did start have perhaps forced their way into his starting eleven to face Fulham on Friday.

It is back to the Premier League later this week after a weekend respite from the top flight where the Blues have won just one of their last six outings and has seen them drop seven points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Sunday’s 4-0 breeze past League Two side Morecambe on Sunday saw Timo Werner and Kai Havertz break their goal droughts of 12 and 15 games respectively as Lampard named a very strong side to get the job done, which they did.

Another goal scorer on the day has arguably forced his way into the Blues starting lineup for the visit to Craven Cottage on Friday night - Callum Hudson-Odoi.

What next for the rebuild of Stamford Bridge?

Four years ago on January 11, 2017, Chelsea looked set to usher in a new era in west London as they were given planning permission to rebuild Stamford Bridge.

At a meeting of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Planning and Development Control Committee, the members voted by a landslide ten to zero to approve the plans with a view to the stadium being built by March 31, 2021.

On January 11, 2021, Stamford Bridge remains exactly as it was four years ago.

Emerson Palmieri has not been the subject of any bids to Chelsea, according to the player's aent.

Napoli, Juventus and Inter have all been linked with a move for the Italy international but as of yet have not tabled any offers.

“There have only been enquiries. I will not speak about the clubs [involved].”

Casillas delivers Donnarumma transfer claim

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has had his say on AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma's future amid links to Chelsea.

Donnarumma is out of contract at San Siro this summer and is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of Italy ahead of the summer.

Unsurprisingly, AC Milan are attempting to keep their star stopper and according to reports, they are willing to offer him a contract worth €7.5million plus bonuses.

But no deal has been struck yet and the door, for now, at least, is open the likes of Chelsea, who are being tipped to sign the Italian despite only signing Edouard Mendy in the winter.

Tomori to Newcastle?

Newcastle United remain a possible destination for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

The 23 year old is set to go out on loan this month and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in his services.

The Newcastle Chronicle report the Magpies could take him north for the remainder of the campaign.

Lampard makes Hudson-Odoi prediction

Frank Lampard believes there has been an “uplift” in Callum Hudson-Odoi performances in recent matches and insists the Chelsea winger is only going to get better.

The 20-year-old was pushed down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the summer arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner and struggled for game time during the early weeks of the campaign.

A hamstring problem sustained in training at the beginning of last month caused further frustration for Hudson-Odoi, especially as a spot in the side had opened up due to an injury suffered by Ziyech.

Costa demands

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa is demanding huge wages to return to the Premier League.

The Spain international is a free agent having cancelled his contract at Atletico Madrid.

He was believed to be on around £270,000 a week in the Spanish capital and the Mirror reports he wants similar in his next move.

Arsenal and Wolves are both reportedly keen on luring him back to England, but this latest update may well be a problem for both clubs.

Dembele set for move

Reported Chelsea target Moussa Dembele is set to move to Atletico Madrid, according to Lyon's sporting director Juninho.

Over 12 months ago now, Sky Sports reported that the Blues had a £34m bid rejected for Dembele - and now, a year on, he looks set to be leaving France, but not for west London.

Juninho, speaking to Telefoot Chaine (via Get French Football News ), said: "There is a possibility (that Dembele leaves this month).

"Moussa came to see me, he thinks that this is the moment to change teams, that he has lost a bit of motivation, this was not something we foresaw, I like him a lot.

"Keeping someone who does not really want to live in an intense way through the next five months, that is not ideal. We are in talks with Atletico, I think that Moussa has found an agreement with Atletico.”

Grant sends Abramovich message amid Lampard's struggles

The Chelsea hierarchy should give Frank Lampard time to turn around the club’s poor form, according to former Blues boss Avram Grant.

Lampard is under pressure at Stamford Bridge following a run of just one win from the last six Premier League matches.

Chelsea have slipped down to ninth place in the Premier League table, but remain just three points adrift of the top four after the 3-1 defeat by Manchester City last weekend.

Piazon exit imminent

Chelsea are yet to make a move in the January transfer window.

But that could be about to change as reports in Portugal claim Lucas Piazon's move to Braga is expected to be made official very soon.

In addition, it's stated that the 26-year-old has already agreed terms with the Portuguese side and all that remains is an announcement on a loan or permanent switch.

Emerson heading to Serie A?

Arsenal defender Keran Tierney could be off to Italy according to a report in the Telegraph.

Napoli are said to have made the 23 year old a long term target having missed out on him at the start of last season.

They are looking at a move for the Scotland international in the summer, but want a short-term fix in the mean time, which is where Emerson Palmieri comes in.

The Chelsea defender is out of favour under Frank Lampard and has made just two league appearances so far this season.

He would surely jump at the chance of a move to Serie A.

Ross Barkley future

Chelsea are unwilling to let midfielder Ross Barkley leave on the cheap.

That's according to our sister site Birmingham Live.

Barkley still has two and a half years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and his wages are said to be more than £100,000 a week.

Barkley is currently in the Midlands at Aston Villa on a season long loan deal.

His long-term future, therefore, remains uncertain and it remains to be seen whether he is given another opportunity by the Blues.

Lampard confirms Tomori to exit on loan

Frank Lampard has confirmed to football.london that Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori could leave the club on loan this month to get more game time.

The centre back has been frozen out by the manager and has played just 244 minutes across all competitions so far in 2020/21.

Ten of those minutes came as Chelsea cruised past Morecambe 4-0 in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon when the defender replaced Kurt Zouma late on.

Having enjoyed a breakthrough 2019/20 season at Stamford Bridge, things have stalled for Tomori since the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer with the Brazilian and Zouma becoming Lampard’s go-to centre back pairing.

Donnarumma latest

The Blues have been linked with a move for Donnarumma recently, with the Italian goalkeeper's contract due to expire at the end of the season, but it now seems Milan have made a breakthrough.

Milan chief Massara said: “We’re confident to reach an agreement with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu in order to extend their contracts in the next weeks”

Lampard signed Edouard Mendy over the summer, and the shot-stopper has impressed during his time in west London so far.

Rice decision

Declan Rice would rather stay in London and has no desire to join Manchester United, according to a report from the Mirror.

The report claims that Rice has told his friends that his preference is to stay in the capital, with a source close to the player saying: "Dec has been flattered by interest in him but he doesn't see himself moving to Manchester. It's obvious where he'd like his next move to be."

The England midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent times, and could leave West Ham United in the summer.

However, if this report is to be believed, then Rice will not be moving to Manchester and a switch to Stamford Bridge could certainly be on the cards.
