Chelsea boss Lampard urges reality check on youth of his team

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged patience with his attacking players after their FA Cup defeat of Morecambe.

England midfielder Mason Mount put a strong Blues side ahead on his 22nd birthday from 25 yards.

Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi struck either side of half time before Kai Havertz headed the fourth with five minutes left.

Lampard said: “When you look at the top of the scoring charts you find players who are 28, 29, who have had to work their way to the top and they produce.

"With our players people look at price tags and expect them to reach those kinds of levels.

"But there is work to be done to get to a point where we can bridge that gap."
