Chelsea leave out talented youngsters against expectations as Lampard looks to save his job

We were all excited to see a slew of youngsters play for Chelsea in today’s FA Cup Third Round game against Morecambe, but in the end Frank Lampard has gone for a very strong team, leaving little room for kids.

Tino Anjorin and Billy Gilmour both make the squad, but the rest of the youngsters who had trained with the first team this week – including Marcel Lewis, Tino Livramento, Jude Soonsup-Bell and Lewis Bate have not been included.

It makes total sense – this is an FA Cup game not a charity fundraiser, and Frank Lampard is desperately fighting for his job. While he won’t save it today, he could definitely lose it, so caution seems sensible.

We will still get to see Billy G in action, with hopefully Tino coming off the bench to join him later – so we can enjoy that and hopefully see our team bounce back to winning ways.
