Havertz sends gifts to former team-mates

Blues midfielder Kai Havertz has been applauded for his classy Christmas gesture to his former Bayer Leverkusen team-mates.

The German gifted each of his ex-colleagues a Chelsea shirt and a thank you card for all their support during his time at the club.

Leverkusen’s managing director of sport Rudi Voller was delighted with the gesture.

‘I was very happy about it and thanked him,’ he said.

‘That is Kai, he is and will remain a boy in our club.’

The gifts were delivered in a personalised box with the Chelsea logo and the ‘KH’ initials, as reported in the Daily Mail.

Havertz moved to Stamford Bridge from Leverkusen in the summer after spending 10 years at the club.

Hoddle reveals nearly signing Bergkamp

Former Chelsea manager and now pundit Glenn Hoddle has revealed how close he came to signing former Arsenal talisman Dennis Bergkamp.

Speaking on his podcast The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show about transfers, he revealed how the lack of funds denied the move for the Dutchman to come to fruition.

‘Bergkamp was one we got close to. We nearly did it with Ruud [Gullit] coming in at the same time,’ he said.

‘But the funds just weren’t there. It was out of our reach at that time.

Diego Costa tipped for Premier League return

Diego Costa will no longer be facing Chelsea in the next round of the Champions League with Atletico Madrid.

The former Blues striker has rescinded his Atletico contract with immediate effect and is set to leave the club six months early, as confirmed in the Guardian.

The Spanish striker has since been linked with a numerous Premier League clubs such as Wolves and Arsenal. It is also reported that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is keen on making Diego Costa a transfer possibility.

‘It has all happened very fast,' the Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone said.

‘The club have spoken to him about his needs and his personal reasons and have found a way to help him without that being detrimental to the club, all which gives us peace of mind.’
