Chelsea fans have called for Frank Lampard to recall Marc Guehi after more defensive lapses against Aston Villa.

The Blues drew 1-1 with the Midlands side on Monday evening, dropping more points in their quest to challenge Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

Lampard's men were blown away 3-1 by Arsenal on Boxing Day in what was seen as a winnable game for the Stamford Bridge side, such are the Gunners' problems at the moment.

Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka finished off Chelsea, who were once again porous at the back. That trend continued against Dean Smith's side, with Andreas Christensen heavily criticised for his role in Villa's equaliser. Supporters claim he was fouled by Jack Grealish in the build-up to Anwar El Ghazi's strike.

But Blues legend John Terry pointed the finger squarely at Christensen. The former centre-back was back at the Bridge in his role as Villa coach, and after the game he posted an Instagram video revealing it was great to be back in west London and praised "another great performance" from Villa.

A supporter replied to his post, saying: "You'd have been raging at that equaliser John. The sporting side of this game has disappeared."

Terry replied in brutal fashion: "He (Christensen) should have got up."

Supporters have now called on Lampard to recall Guehi next month and integrate him into their first-team plans, with the youngster excellin under Steve Cooper in SA1.

"I’d recall Guehi over playing AC , even Morata would beat Christensen in a physical battle," said one.

"Disappointed with a draw, but the character is there. Lacks urgency and slow in transition, but after 2 days I ain't complaining. AC is not a great choice going into this game, lacks aggression, very shaky and poor reading of the game. Guehi/Tomori better," added another.

"We should recall Guehi from Swansea," demanded a third, while a further fan said: "Lampard a mug his best centre-back on loan guehi bring the guy back."

"Guehi has to be back in the summer. Can’t stand Christensen anymore," lamented another.

Guehi has been a standout performer for Cooper this season, helping them be the tightest defence in the Championship.

The youngster, though, is not taking anything for granted. Chelsea do have a recall clause on Guehi, but it is understood he is likely to see out the season at the Liberty Stadium.

"I’m just enjoying it at the moment,” he told the club website.

“Game by game, I’m taking everything in my stride. I’m not taking anything for granted.

“We’ve got a really good squad, so I must make sure I stay on top of my game.

“The boys challenging to get in the team are making it hard for me as well. I try to take every opportunity and I’m really enjoying the chance of getting that at Swansea.

“That’s credit to the team, credit to how we’re playing and the coaches we have; it’s credit to everyone."
