Newcastle were first linked with the Germany international in November following their £300million Saudi-backed takeover.

And Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for the centre-back as they look to bolster their defence.

The Blues have defenders Antonio Rudiger, 28, Andreas Christensen, 25, and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, 32, all out of contract in the summer.

Now both teams have received boost in landing Sule with the player signalling his intention to depart.

According to Sport1, the ex-Hoffenheim ace is in talks with an 'unnamed club' about a move in the next transfer window.

They state that Sule informed Bayern he wishes to leave prior to Sunday's 4-1 win away at Hertha Berlin.

The German news outlet also revealed that LaLiga giants Barcelona are keen on securing his services.

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has confirmed that Sule is poised for a summer exit after rejecting the club's latest contract offer.

Speaking of the four-time Bundesliga champion, Khan said in a press conference: "The negotiations with Niklas dragged on for a very long time.

"We made him an offer. He didn’t accept it. He wants to leave the club at the end of the season.

"We have a certain responsibility when it comes to the offers. We we have to stick to certain financial conditions.

"It’s normal in this business that you’ll not always each an agreement."

Before adding: "We made Niklas a very, very good offer. He’s been solid and playing with confidence lately. We still need that from him for the rest of this season.

"But we have certain economic limits. Sometimes you just don’t reach an agreement, it happens. The talks with Niklas went on for months.

"I think he has shown very good performances here in the past five years. He’s one of the best centre-backs out there right now. I think we always showed him respect and appreciation."
